Hunter Pence-The Week In Review May 31-June 6

By Robert H. Kelly

Hunter Pence capped of the month of May by being named the National League Rookie of the Month.

For the month of may, he lead all National League rookies, with four home runs, had a .593 slugging percentage and a .372 on-base percentage in 28 games. He hit .343 with 11 runs, nine doubles, three triples and three steals.

Compare that to the American League of the Month for May, Dustin Pedroia

The Boston second baseman hit .415 with six doubles, two homers and nine RBIs.

Pence is clearly at the top of the list for a rookie's performance in Major League Baseball.

His statistics for May include going 12 for 25, with three runs, one home run, six RBIs , and two stolen bases.

If this keeps up, he will be named the Rookie of the Month again this season, in addition to the NL Rookie of the Year for the 2007 season.
